Stockbridge, Hampshire, England

Stockbridge High Street

A lovely site in the heart of the valley of the River Test; a wide main street with pleasingly varied shops and houses; a view of trees and fields as the hills rise at the end of the High Street - these are the first things which strike the visitor to our town.

Those who stop find a remarkable variety of shops and galleries in which to browse.

Town Duck Pond & River Test
If they want a meal or a drink or stay for a night, there are many welcoming hotels, pubs and guest houses, some of which were once coaching inns. They can feed ducks in one of the streams which run beneath the road. Or they can walk down by the gently rippling river, the finest trout stream in England, with swans, coot, moorhens and the occasional heron to be seen. Not far off there is the Iron Age hillfort at Danebury, built by our Forebears 2,500 years ago. Its massive ramparts still have the power to impress.
