The Wykeham Gallery THE WYKEHAM GALLERY HIGH STREET, STOCKBRIDGE, SO20 6HETel: 01264 810364.enquiries@wykehamgallery.co.ukEstablished in 1985, the gallery sells paintings, watercolours and sculpture by contemporary artists, alongside pictures from 1880 - 1940. The gallery has always maintained a policy of displaying work by artists that we believe create interesting work, underpinned by a consistency of skill in their painting or sculpting. Contemporary work is selected to encompass a range of artistic styles. On view in the gallery, within a broad price bracket, there is always a selection of sculpture and pictures reflecting this stylistic range and subject matter. Exhibitions held are by contemporary artists, either as solo or mixed shows as well as themed exhibitions. The earlier work on view is primarily by British artists, with a particular emphasis on those twentieth century painters who stylistically moved forward away from the formal confines of painting of the nineteenth century.

Broughton Crafts Broughton Crafts, owned by Dick & Gillian Pugh, began in 1982 in a barn outside Broughton. Their aim was to sell the best of British craftsmanship. The present premises had been an antique shop. However the site, together with the adjacent Post Office, was threatened with development as a convenience store. This project was abandoned because of the requirement for deep pilings in new buildings and so, in 1983, Broughton Crafts were able to move in. The shop has been very successful, selling crafts from many parts of the UK and the rest of the world - weaving and wood, cards and candles, games and glasses, baskets and bangles. |

John Robinson John Robinson is generally known as 'John Rob's' . It is one of Stockbridge's best known shops and is a first class butcher. John Robinson bought Jim Corrall's shop in 1969 and built it up to be a busy, popular enterprise selling very high quality meat, game, homemade sausages and various cooked meats. His sons, Paul, and twins, Peter and Jonathan, took over in 1994 and have continued this success. Paul reached an even wider public by his resistance to the 1998-99 government ban on beef-on-the-bone. Today there are 11 butchers at work on an average day, while at Christmas there may be many more, with queues onto the pavement sometimes as far as the Groves'. Outside catering and barbecues are another aspect of this flourishing business.
